BOOK REVIEW: Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay

Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay πŸ™ΆAfter a late night of partying, NYU student Matt Pine returns to his dorm room to devastating news: nearly his entire family—his mom, his dad, his little brother and sister—have been found dead from an apparent gas leak while vacationing in Mexico. The local police claim it was an accident, but the FBI and State Department seem far less certain—and they won’t tell Matt why. The tragedy makes headlines everywhere because this isn’t the first time the Pine family has been thrust into the media spotlight. Matt’s older brother, Danny—currently serving a life sentence for the murder of his teenage girlfriend Charlotte—was the subject of a viral true crime documentary suggesting that Danny was wrongfully convicted. Though the country has rallied behind Danny, Matt holds a secret about his brother that he’s never told anyone: the night Charlotte was killed Matt saw something that makes him believe his brother is guilty of the crime. When Matt returns to his sm

BOOK REVIEW: Look Closer by David Ellis

Look Closer by David Ellis πŸ™ΆSimon and Vicky couldn't  seem  more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing's for sure ... absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky's secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due. A decades-long grudge and obsession with revenge. These are just a few of the lies that make up the complex web...and they will have devastating consequences. And while both Vicky and Simon are liars, just who exactly is conning who?πŸ™· My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 My first David Ellis and will definitely not be last. This is one of those books I truly feel lived up to the hype.  What I loved about it: 1. The drama - domestic thril

BOOK REVIEW: The Cabin in the Woods by Sarah Alderson

The Cabin in the Woods by Sarah Alderson πŸ™ΆIn a cabin in a wood, A woman by the window stood. Glancing out, she thought she heard Footsteps, whistling, something stirred. Hiding here, she fears the night, For what’s done in the dark will come to light. She must run fast to escape her lie Or she’ll be the next to die…πŸ™· My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟/5 This was just okay for me. I love rags to riches stories so it held my attention for a while. It was interesting until it's not. What I liked: 1. It was a quick read. 2. It was suspenseful. What I disliked: -Spoiler Alert!- 1. Some parts were just unbelievable. Case in point: They staged an elaborate crime scene in the garage with Ryan fully awake, and was in the kitchen just seconds earlier. There were just so many implausible moments like this it was hard to stay invested in the story. 2. It was never explained why or how was Daisy in Thailand. 3. Everything was wrapped up too neatly for my liking. 4. Cheesy ending. I know I'm in the minorit

BOOK REVIEW UPDATE: Still Alice by Lisa Genova

Still Alice by Lisa Genova πŸ™ΆAlice Howland — Harvard professor, gifted researcher, and lecturer, wife, and mother of three grown children — sets out for a run and soon realizes she has no idea how to find her way home. She has taken the route for years, but nothing looks familiar. She is utterly lost. Medical consults reveal early-onset Alzheimer's. Alice slowly but inevitably loses memory and connection with reality, as told from her perspective. She gradually loses the ability to follow a conversational thread, the story line of a book, or to recall information she heard just moments before. Genova's debut shows the disease progression through the reactions of others, as Alice does, so readers feel what she feels: a slowly building terror. πŸ™· My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Told in Alice's point of view, it presents a clear, unforgiving account of what having Alzheimer’s is like. Imagine getting lost in your own home, losing your grasp of language, and forgetting everything you h

But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up. πŸ™· My Rating: 🌟 🌟 🌟 /5 I can understand the hype, why people say it's the next Hunger Games. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is, but I get it. The 5th Wave is a fast-paced post-apocalyptic surviva
